About Us

Our home owners association is an all-volunteer association made up of fellow homeowners and neighbors. Our Board of Directors provides direction to our professional management company and both work together in providing leadership and insuring the best of services to our community.   Many neighbors donate their time and talent serving on our various committees as well as many projects within the community.

The intent of this web site is to better serve the needs of our SL community through communications and information access. As a Savannahs Landing homeowner we invite you to explore your website where you will find access to all public documents, by-laws, covenants, meeting minutes and much more. Best of all, should you have any difficulty locating the information, our contact list will put you in touch with someone who can help!

My wife Patricia and I reside at 17 Amandas Court and have owned here since 2015.

In my professional career I worked 40 years in the construction industry in a managerial capacity. I was part owner of Baltimore Masonry, Inc. and worked as an estimator/project manager. Some of my completed projects include Oriole Park at Camden Yards, M & T Bank Stadium and the Washington Convention Center. Prior to this I worked in general contracting and I am familiar with many different trades and building systems.

I served on the Board of Directors of the Masonry Institute of Maryland from 1990 through 2011. I helped with the development of the Institute website and with the promotion of masonry as a viable wall system in building structures.

I currently serve on the Board of Trustees for the following organizations:

1. Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 1 of MD, VA and DC Health and Welfare Fund

2. Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 1 Baltimore Chapter Pension Fund

3. Marble Tile and Terrazo Workers Pension and Annuity Fund

I have been a Trustee for these funds since 1993.

During my career as a CFO, and a self-employed consultant for the past 13 years, I have had a variety of management and leadership opportunities. I have worked with Boards of Directors on my clients’ behalf. I have assisted many clients with strategic planning, both short-term and long-term, including preparing financial budgets. I apply a very practical business sense to assist my clients in making business decisions and planning for growth. I have also assisted clients by reviewing contracts, including leases and other service contracts. I often assist by writing accounting and internal control policies and procedures.

In addition to my consulting work, I have been an Adjunct Professor at University of Maryland Global Campus (previously University of Maryland University College) for 15 years teaching various accounting classes.

My local community activities include volunteering with both the CHEER senior center and Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute Inc. (MERR).

I have lived in Savannahs Landing full time since May of 2017. I am interested in joining the board as a contribution to my community. I have benefited from the service of the board and committee members, both initially as a new member of the community, as well as ongoing during my residence here. I greatly appreciate all the hard work they do and hope to be able to give back as well.

My wife, Cindy Kane, and I moved from Chatham, NJ, to Savannahs Landing in September 2017. Here at Savannahs Landing, I currently serve on the board’s nominating committee and pond committee.

In 1977, I began a career in book publishing, first as an editor at Signet Paperbacks, then as an associate at a literary agency and contracts manager at St. Martin’s Press. After 10 years, I left the corporate world and from 1988-98 worked as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator creating artwork for fiction and nonfiction books and television, including Nickelodeon Television and National Geographic videos.

In 1998, I joined the staff of a weekly New Jersey newspaper, The Item of Millburn and Short Hills. I began as a reporter and, over the years, was promoted to managing editor, then editor. As editor, I supervised a staff of four and managed office logistics and maintenance. My responsibilities included coverage of state and local politics, community events, local business news, and education. During my time at the paper, I won state journalism awards for reporting, illustration, photography, layout, and editorial writing. I retired in July 2017.

Prior to residing in a residential neighborhood in Chatham, our family lived in a seven-story condominium in a nearby township, where I served on the homeowners’ association board for four years, including several years as president. Some of the issues addressed by that condo board included building-wide window replacement, extensive overhaul of the heating infrastructure, and the controversial installation of a rooftop cell phone tower. I would like to put my skills in negotiation and creative problem-solving to work in helping our community maintain its high standards for beauty and livability.
